ARTIST STATMENT:
As a plein air painter, I am most inspired by the felt moods that the natural and cultural landscapes evoke. My application of paint and compositions are a response to my perception of a place; to what I find interesting. My painting process is not formulaic. I prefer to work intuitively and improvisational with no predetermined result in mind. I seek to express in paint the rich nuances and energy that a place presents within this moment in time.
The struggle of searching for that elusive balance between observation, perceptive mood, and design in a painterly approach keeps me engaged and challenged. Often it is the paintings which I have battled the hardest, destroyed and resurrected that become the most interesting.
